Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies
In 2006, the LA Best Babies Network launched the Healthy Births Learning Collaborative. Ten clinical sites are working to improve pregnancy and birth outcomes for women living in Los Angeles County areas representing the greatest health disparities. A 2008 UniHealth Foundation grant enhances this successful program with the addition of a quality improvement in postpartum care component to ensure that all new mothers receive optimal recommended care in the first few months after childbirth.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
A 2008 UniHealth Foundation grant to the Violence Intervention Program at LAC+USC Medical Center has resulted in expanded services to Los Angeles County foster children with a history of prenatal alcohol exposure. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is the leading cause of preventable mental retardation.
