The Trust for Public Land's Fitness Zones
Isometric outdoor gym equipment designed to be durable, vandal resistant, and used in variable configurations is manufactured specifically for neighborhood park exercise areas called Fitness Zones. Appropriate for all fitness levels, the equipment can be used for both strength training and aerobics. In 2008, a $150,000 grant to the Trust for Public Land supported the installation of Fitness Zones in five Los Angeles County public parks.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
A 2008 UniHealth Foundation grant to the Violence Intervention Program at LAC+USC Medical Center has resulted in expanded services to Los Angeles County foster children with a history of prenatal alcohol exposure. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is the leading cause of preventable mental retardation.
