ADVANCING HEALTHY AGING
In 2003, the UniHealth Foundation Board of Directors established the David R. Carpenter Advancing Health Aging Initiative to honor its founding chairman and chief executive officer. The focus of the initiative is to support programs which enable older adults to remain healthy and actively involved in everyday live, and which advance and enable independent living, including caregiver training and support.
THE CAREGIVING PROJECT FOR OLDER AMERICANS:
IN-HOME CAREGIVER TRAINING
UniHealth Foundation is currently partnering with The International Longevity Center-USA, (ILC) a not-for-profit, nonpartisan research, policy and education organization to support the Caregiving Project for Older Americans with a grant which will enable the systematic documentation of in-home caregiver training programs in the United States for the purpose of determining who the professional, in-home caregivers of older Americans are and how/where they are trained. In Spring 2008, a Caregiver Training Task Force assembled from a network of major caregiving experts will convene for a consensus conference in Southern California to evaluate and discuss the final research report and its recommendations.
